Sullivan campaign debt leads to arrest of former treasurer
Surprise Councilman Gary "Doc" Sullivan paid $1,380 to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office on Wednesday to put behind him a lingering debt that put one of his former campaign workers in jail Wednesday.
Gary "Vince" Gossard, who was treasurer of Sullivan's mayoral exploratory committee last year, was jailed after failing to appear in court on bad-check writing charges. Sullivan Wednesday was seeking a motion to dismiss the charges against Gossard through the local justice courts.
Sullivan's payment covers the cost of the bad check written for Larry Davis' political-consulting services dating back more than a year, as well as associated court fees. Davis, of Intermedia Public Relations, was hired last year to assist with Sullivan's mayoral exploratory committee.
