Some schools in Ohio are turning to collection services to force parents to pay fees associated with student supplies and supplemental instruction materials.
Scott Ebright of the Ohio School Board Association says the idea is something new for public education.
The association says a few districts are employing companies such as Transworld Systems to collect unpaid fees.
The company uses less intimidating collection methods so parents are not alienated.
Transworld Systems even helps the Girl Scouts of America collect delinquent cookie money.
