Beverly Usher is fearful that as she prepares to send her daughter to college, she’s simultaneously putting her on a steppingstone into financial quicksand. ‘‘I feel what we are doing is handing her a Visa card with $120,000 of debt, without the interest, and saying ‘Here you go,’’’ said Usher, a Plymouth resident.
‘‘There is a flaw in the system. There is so much wrong, that it’s so expensive. It’s killing me, that she is going to take out this money for a college education,’’ Usher said.
Usher is hardly alone in fretting about debt incurred with obtaining a college degree.
