After Tuesday, it'll be at least six years before Peach County residents get another chance to vote on a special purpose local option sales tax.
James Khoury, outgoing County Commission chairman, said the additional penny sales tax will help fund projects that could not be done if the county relied on property taxes alone.
"The roads are needed. We have 11 miles of dirt road in the county," Khoury said. "There are a lot of worthy projects that we couldn't fund otherwise."
