	Bad advice costs debtors dearly
	state regulators recently issued a rare warning Beware of non'profit debt counseling services that may be using the special tax status granted to charities simply to get around consumer protection laws.

	Consumer debt increases by largest amount since January
	Consumers ratcheted up their borrowing in September by the largest amount since the beginning of the year amid signs that the economy and the job market were picking up. That pushed up total consumer debt to $1.97 trillion
