Lawmakers and the lending industry are planning to work on a compromise version of legislation that would allow credit unions to expand into underserved areas, after last minute objections scuttled House consideration of the bill.
The House had been scheduled to consider the bill on Tuesday, but leadership pulled the measure off the schedule late Monday following objections from the banking industry.
Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank , D-Mass., said Tuesday that he plans to talk with credit union representatives and the banking industry in hopes of finding “common ground.”
