Skybus shows need to know credit refund law


Are you holding a worthless ticket on a Skybus Airlines flight and want a refund? What if you buy a ticket for a flight on another airline that gets canceled?

You can ask for a refund from your credit-card issuer under provisions of the federal Fair Credit Billing Act if you booked using a credit card and the airline fails to deliver the agreed-upon service -- your flight.

But you must carefully follow the rules or your card company may refuse your request.

Columbus, Ohio-based Skybus ceased operations April 5.

Capital One spokeswoman Pam Gerardo said, "We intend to issue a refund to impacted customers. They need to contact us for reimbursement."
