Trash hauler Republic Services Inc. said Thursday it has agreed to settle shareholder lawsuits challenging its pending purchase of rival Allied Waste Industries Inc. and its rejection of a deal with industry leader Waste Management Inc.
As part of the settlement, in which Republic denied liability to claims alleged in the lawsuits, it agreed to detail its decision rejecting the $6.73 billion bid by Houston-based Waste Management.
Republic also described how it decided to pursue its deal with Allied.
